Steel balls are indispensable in the bearing industry and the crushing industry. Common steel balls include bearing steel balls, stainless steel balls, carbon steel balls, alloy balls, etc. Although the steel ball is small, its carrying capacity and life are very important in the world of transmission, and its production process directly affects the product quality.
Let's take a look at the production process of bearing steel balls:
01Raw material
The materials of each specification and each heat number are inspected. If it is a wire, wire drawing (wire drawing) is also required, and the wire is drawn to the required wire diameter with a wire drawing machine.
02Cold heading

Under normal temperature conditions, the raw material is plastically deformed to form a ball.

 

03Flashing

The ring belt on the surface of the ball blank is removed, while the roughness of the surface of the steel ball is increased to make the ball blank preliminary into a spherical shape.
04Heat treatment

The ball is put into the heat treatment furnace, carburized, quenched and then tempered so that the ball has a certain carburized layer, hardness, toughness and crushing load. Some manufacturers use advanced mesh belt heat treatment lines to effectively control the process parameters of quenching and tempering time and temperature through various instruments to ensure the stability and controllability of product quality.
05Peening
A processing method in which steel balls collide with each other through a strengthening machine to make the surface of the steel ball plastically strengthened to increase the compressive stress and surface hardness of the steel ball.
The surface quality and shape of the steel ball are further improved by grinding the iron plate and rotating the grinding wheel plate under a certain pressure.

07 Initial Research (Lapping 1)

Two cast iron primary grinding discs are used, then abrasives are added, and through certain pressure and mechanical movement, the surface quality of the precision specified by the process is achieved.

08Appearance/Detection (Check/AVKIO)

100% manual selection. Plus AVKIO flaw detector: photoelectric, eddy current, vibration three methods to select various types of defect balls, such as surface defects, shallow surface layer cracks, and internal material defects.

09 Laping (Laping 2)
Two cast iron fine grinding plates are used, and abrasives are added. Under the action of a little pressure and mechanical movement, some reserve is consumed, which further improves the precision and surface quality of the steel ball.

10Washing
The spiral cleaning machine and the lifting turnover box improve the cleaning quality and reduce the damage of the steel ball surface, and the cleaning fluid is continuously filtered to ensure the cleanliness of the steel ball.

11Final check
The final inspection of each batch of steel balls is carried out in accordance with the requirements of the process, such as the roundness, hardness, metallography, stress, etc. of the steel balls. Refer to the inspection standards for details.

12 Rust prevention, packaging (Oil, Pack)
Use anti-rust oil, spray anti-rust and package according to customer's packaging requirements.
