The effect of the environment on stainless steel balls

The deuteration of the stainless steel ball is also related to the characteristics of the medium, especially to the oxidizing ability of the medium. In an oxidizing medium such as nitric acid, NO3 is oxidizing, and an oxide film on the surface of the stainless steel ball is easily formed, and the aging time is also short. In non-oxidizing medium, such as dilute sulfuric acid, hydrochloric acid, organic glue. The oxygen content is low and the time required for passivation is prolonged. When the oxygen content in the medium is low to a certain extent, the stainless steel ball cannot be deuterated. For example, in dilute sulfuric acid, the corrosion rate of the chromium stainless steel ball is even faster than that of carbon steel. Therefore, it is necessary to correctly select the use of stainless steel corrosion resistant steel according to the characteristics of the working medium.

For weakly corrosive media such as the atmosphere, water, and water vapor, as long as the chromium content w(cr) in the solid solution is 10% to 12%, stainless steel is ensured.

In an oxidizing acid such as nitric acid, the stainless steel corrosion-resistant steel is passivated in a short period of time due to sufficient oxygen, but the acid contains hydrogen ions as a cathode depolarizer, so as the hydrogen ion concentration increases, the passivation The chromium content needs to be increased. Only in this way can the chromium content in the oxide film be improved, and the oxide film containing high chromium has good stability in nitric acid. Therefore, w(cr)>10%-12%, it is guaranteed to be stainless.
